Cacao, Chicago 

Chocolate is this winter morning
on the Michigan Avenue Bridge.
Below, a boat cracks open the river.
Above, the Wrigley Tower lifts
time like a gift to the gray sky.
West, upwind, the chocolate factory
is pouring steam into the air.
I huddle on the bridge and inhale
the bittersweet air that breaks
in my nose and makes my mouth go moist.
